Meet The Newest GHI Guy: Scott Tepperman

Today we are pleased to be presenting our exclusive interview with Ghost Hunters International's newest team member, Scott Tepperman. Scott was mentioned in a previous press release from SyFy and will be joining the team in the upcoming summer season of Ghost Hunters International. In our interview, Scott discusses more about how he become a part of the show, his fellow team members, his goals for the paranormal field, and lots more! You can read the full interview on our website.

What is your past experience in the paranormal field? How were you introduced to it?
I first became interested in the paranormal after becoming intrigued with the actual “Amityville Horror” case in Long Island, NY. Having visited the site several times, I began to learn more about the supposed claims of unexplained activity and became completely obsessed with the subject of hauntings and paranormal activity. I’ve been investigating the paranormal professionally for about 6 years. I moved to Tallahassee, FL in 2004 where I joined a local “ghost hunting” group. In 2008, after being their lead field investigator for nearly 5 years, I decided to launch my own group with another member from that team. ALPHA(http://www.alphaghostteam.com/) was formed to help return the field of the paranormal to its roots: real, raw, responsible and straightforward investigations with no B.S. and no hidden agendas. ALPHA’s goal is to provide individuals with answers by, detailed field work always provided free of charge. Our approach to the field has been well received, as ALPHA is now a very successful organization with a favorable reputation.

How did you become involved in GHI?
I had always planned on trying to get onboard with TAPS or GHI since day one. In 2009, the other ALPHA co-founder and myself entered SyFy’s “Pair-anormal Contest” and actually were semi-finaled to the point that our contest submission was posted on the SyFy website. Since we apparently sparked the interest of someone over at the network, we decided that we would enter any and all contests in hopes that something would eventually stick. I entered the GHA / GHI casting call contest and everything took off from there.

Academy Recruits Visit Mark Twain House, New Info

Thanks to Twitter, we have learned a few nuggets of new information about the upcoming season of Ghost Hunters Academy, set to premiere in June. Two tweets from Jason reveal that yesterday, one recruit was sent home and that the cadets are ages 18 to 40 this time, not just in college. Today the Mark Twain house posted a photo on their account that showed the GHA RV and the message 'Look who came to visit this week!'. We knew previously that Jason would have a larger involvement in Academy and these new developments seem to indicate that this is the case. TAPS investigated the Twain house in Season 4, but lost a lot of evidence due to a hard drive failure. Hopefully the recruits have had better luck.
And if you're on Twitter, why not follow us? When we reach 1,000 followers, we'll give some cool stuff away!

TAPS Investigates Cooperstown Hotel with New Member

TAPS is spending two weeks investigating the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, New York to search for signs of paranomal activity. Claims of paranormal activity from the location include full-bodied apparitions, voices, and the sounds of children playing when nobody is present. The reporter from The Daily Star caught up with Britt Griffith who talked about TAPS' investigative method and also introduced a new member of the TAPS team. KJ McCormick is quoted in the article as saying that investigating with TAPS is a "once in a lifetime oppurtunity" and the report notes that he joined TAPS just about a month ago. The appearance of the black and yellow TAPS van has sparked interest in residents, who have shared stories about their own unexplained experiences.

But he said 70 percent of cases investigated by ``Ghost Hunters'' result in paranormal activities, which are events that can't be explained.

Griffith, a California resident, said he worked 15 years as a foreman at an asphalt construction plant, and checking out paranormal events was a hobby. His interest developed into professional opportunities with ``Ghost Hunters.''

KJ McCormick, an investigator, agreed that being on the TAPS team is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.``I'm just passionate about the paranormal,'' he said. McCormick, a wood and steel worker who lives in Boulder, Colo., said he joined TAPS about a month ago, and this visit is his first to Cooperstown.

``We're trying to bring some validity to the reports of activity in the hotel,'' McCormick said. ``I love the Otesaga _ this is a great hotel. ... I love the creaking floors and the large rooms with tall ceilings.''The team and crews arrived Monday, Griffith said, and some residents have noticed their van with ``TAPS'' lettered on the black exterior and inquired about their visit.

``Everybody has a ghost story in this town,'' Griffith said.

SyFy Changes Academy, New International Member

Today marks one year since SciFi morphed itself into the newly rebranded SyFy, and in a press release published today, SyFy outlined some changes to the Ghost Hunters franchise. First up Ghost Hunters Academy is set to evolve into more of a competition series in which hopeful recruits are elminated weekly by the one and only Jason Hawes. Plus, Ghost Hunters International will see an addition in the form of a new team member, Scott Tepperman. I think that this Scott Tepperman from Alpha Ghost Team in New York is the same one mentioned in the press release.

Ghost Hunters Academy evolves into a competition series where each week, a different ghost hunting hopeful is voted off by one of the ultimate judges of paranormal investigating, Jason Hawes. Ghost Hunters International will add a new cast member (Scott Tepperman). Both shows are spin-offs of Ghost Hunters, television's #1 paranormal investigative franchise.

Brian Harnois in the Lone Star State, Possible New TV Show?

Former TAPS investigator Brian Harnois will be a featured guest speaker this weekend at the Texas Ghost Show, along with other notable members for the paranormal field. Since leaving Ghost Hunters, Brian has started his own paranormal group and makes his living doing lectures, attending conventions, and scheduling personal appearances. He does not charge for his ghost hunting team's investigations. The article does briefly mention that Harnois may be returning to TV since he "also in negotiation with producers to create a new show on paranormal investigations".

Harnois is now is a full-time ghost hunter. Since a client is never charged for an investigation, Harnois makes his living doing lectures, conventions and personal appearances. “It pays the bills. I do about two a month,” he said. It gives him more time to spend in his Warwick, R.I., home with wife Michelle and daughters Mackenzie, 3 and Kylie, 7 months.

Harnois is also in negotiation with producers to create a new show on paranormal investigations and may once again be on TV soon.

This is not Harnois’ first trip to Texas; but his in the Golden Triangle. He has participated in investigations both in Corpus Christi and at the York Town hospital, “It’s pretty creepy in there.”

Ghost Hunters Revisit Hartford

During the previous season, the Ghost Hunters made a trip out to Hartford, Conn., to investiate the Mark Twain House, but unfortunately lost a lot of evidence due to a hard drive failure. It seems that they got a second chance however, because the TVEye is reporting that TAPS made a return visit to the home during their second trip to Hartford. As well as revisiting the Twain home they also investigated a new location, The Harriet Beecher Stowe House. The Stowe House plans to celebrate by holding parties Wednesday night and starting up ghost tours, apparently due to the success the Twain house has had with them.

Additionally, you can see a preview of this Wednesday's episode below:

Ghost Hunters Wrap-Up Their Investigatation at Norwich

Previously, we've heard reports that TAPS was interested in investigating the Norwich Hospital property in Connecticut and that they had contacted the city in hopes of conducting an investigation. It seems that the city said yes, because a new article posted on the Norwich Bulletin reveals that TAPS and the SyFy crew filmed at the location Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night. Some filming is still set to take place outside of the building. Apparently this investigation came with a price tag, since "they gave the town a location fee of $4,000"!

Jason may have given fans a sneak peek of this episode through two photos he has posted on his Twitter account, both from a morgue (only on Ghost Hunters!) See them here and here. As of now we can assume that the are from the Norwich investigation.

The reality television show “Ghost Hunters” filmed Monday, Tuesday night and Wednesday night at the former Norwich Hospital property in Preston and gave the town a location fee of $4,000.

Kent Borner, chairman of the Preston Redevelopment Agency, said filming is nearly complete, except for one day of filming outside. He does not know what, if anything, the ghost hunters found.

“I know for sure they were in the administration building,” Borner said. “And they were talking about getting into the tunnels.”

He said the crew may also have gone into the Ribicoff building, where medical procedures and operations were performed. The Ribicoff was also the site of the hospital’s morgue. The former Norwich Hospital has been thought for years to be haunted, perhaps by the ghosts of its patients.

Behind The Scenes of the 100th Episode

In a new video posted on SyFy.com, Kris Williams and Amy Bruni talk about the live show, their schedules, being on South Park, and more. The interview was conducted just minutes before the March 3 live show in New York. Wouldn't it be cool if Ghost Hunters really made it to 100 seasons?!

Kris & Amy Talk About Their "Supernatural Hotness"

In a new interview with BlogCritics.org, TAPS members Kris Williams and Amy Bruni talk about their "supernatural hotness", shopping, being the only two female members of the TAPS team, and their approach toward ghost hunting. Don't forget that we will be conducting our own interview with Amy Bruni soon, so now is your chance to submit your questions for the exclusive interview!

Eric - You guys put the genre on the map in terms of being taken seriously, and that’s an amazing thing really.

Kris and Amy – Thank you. The big thing for us is being skeptics and going into it to find out what’s going on . What we find is what we find – either people believe it or they don’t. We don’t put on an act – what you see is what you get. We’re very serious – unless it’s Steve and Tango! We have a good time, but we’re very passionate about finding the truth.

Let’s move on to the really important stuff: if you snoop around on the Internet and check out the fan sites, you are the ghost hunting babes! How did this come to be? How do you feel about that? Reveling in your supernatural hotness and all.

Kris – We don’t feel “hot” most of the time. Usually we don’t have nice hair and clothes on – we’re climbing through all kinds of crazy little tunnels and basements, and running from bats.

Amy – Yes, everyone pretty much sees us at
our worst so I don’t know how this happened. We’re both very curious about how
this happened, but it’s interesting – that’s for sure![Laugh] We watch very closely to see what things change and it seems like you both have become a bit more fashionable, perhaps, over time. I would imagine that’s just something you’re doing on your own.

Kris – When I came into it I had been a flooring installer and carpenter for three years. I was a bit of a tomboy until this one [Amy] started, and she ruined me with the shopping and the clothes!

Amy – That’s what happened – we just started shopping more and that’s why we started wearing cuter clothes. It’s going to
make me go broke!

Ghost Hunters Celebrate 100 Episodes

Last night, the long awaited 100th episode of Ghost Hunters aired amidst a live audience and discussion. During the night, the TAPS team took questions from the audience (among them 'Does the paranormal keep you up at night?' and 'Does ghost hunting ever conflict with your religious beliefs?') while also featuring their 100th episode episode investigation of Alcatraz Island. Barry and Dustin joined in on this particular investigation and the team unearthed some shocking EVPs. The team also got a chance to test out some new equipment, one that projects laser dots across a room and another that monitors audio frequencies.

Two familiar faces from Ghost Hunters Academy made an appearance during the show, Karl Pfeiffer and Susan Slaughter, talking about their upcoming adventures on GHI and the second season of GHA that is set to premiere June 2, 2010 with all new recruits and episodes. Robb Demarest, Dustin Pari, and Barry FitzGerald where also present to talk about their upcoming travels with Ghost Hunters International and promising an exciting new season for their viewers (set to premiere in July 2010).

The night included a few laughs, most memorably a presentation of 'snozzberry' pancakes to Dave Tango in response to a bet he made on Alcatraz. The event concluded with a few final words from the team and a short statement from the show's producer, Craig Piligian, who remarked on how succesfull and unexpected the Ghost Hunters franchise has become. And who could forget the Alcatraz cake?

The show ended on TV, but if you logged onto SyFy.com, the discussion continued in an exclusive after party. Although I personally missed some of it due to connection problems, the team did talk about an upcoming episode in the season in which they respond to a cry for help and some of the new equipment that will be seen in Season 6.

All in all it was fun way to ring in an impressive milestone for the Ghost Hunters franchise and we thank Jason, Grant, Steve, Dave, Kris, Amy, Robb, Dustin, Barry, Karl, Susan, and Josh for sharing the night with us!

A Trip Down TAPS Memory Lane

As Ghost Hunters prepares to reach its 100th episode milestone within mere hours, you can take a trip down memory lane, all the way ack to the first unaired episode of Ghost Hunters in which the team investigates the Lyman residence to help the family get to the bottom of the unexplained occurances in their home.

Some interesting things to note in this first episode:

  • The classic black & yellow TAPS van is missing, instead a white van takes the team to the home

  • Only 3 investigators from this 1st episode will be in the 100th (Jason, Grant, & Steve), as opposed to the 4 (Brian, Donna, Keith, & Heather) who won't.

  • It looks like TAPS headquarters for this episode is in Jason's basement, not even in the trailer featured in Season 1.

  • Look at that technology! The TAPS of today wouldn't use such large pieces of equipment (form the audio recorders to those huge computers!)

  • Do you see any cords in this investigation? I didn't, which means that all the cameras were on tapes, not connected to the DVR.

  • Here's something that hasn't changed, the audio program used on the 1 laptop looks identical to the one used in the 99th episode.

  • Take a closer look at Steve and you will see that his right arm doesn't have a single tattoo on it!

If you see any more interesting things, please post them in the comments! Plus, don't forget that there is a Ghost Hunters marathon all day on SyFy that you won't want to miss!

100 Episode Media & Excitement

The Ghost Hunters live show is less than twenty-four hours away and the TAPS team Twitter accounts have been ablaze with mentions of the upcoming event. We know that the entire team (plus Josh Gates (Destination Truth) and Karl Pfeiffer (Ghost Hunters Academy)) is in New York preparing for the big event tomorrow. Kris & Amy mentioned via their Twitter accounts that they had quite a morning doing different media interviews with different news stations across the country. One of them was with Good Day Sacramento and can be seen below. Kris and Amy keep tight lips regarding the results of the Alcatraz investigation, but do mention the live show and some interesting info (scroll to the last video in the player).

Jason has tweeted a few videos of the TAPS team in New York,
here is one featuring Steve Gonsalves during a recent dinner the cast & crew had to celebrate 100 episodes.

And finally, we get our first glimpse into the set constructed for tomorrow's live show

So if you are on the west coast, you will need to visit the site before the show actually airs on your SyFy channel (11 PM EST, 8 PM PST).
