Pilgrim Films Sues Over Ghost Hunters DVDs

Pilgrim Films & Television, which is the company behind the production of Ghost Hunters, is involved in a legal battle with Big Vision Entertainment involving royalties from Ghost Hunters DVDs. Pilgrim Films has sued Big Vision for $3 million for failing to pay the previously agreed upon percentage of royalties.

Kris & Amy Talk About the New Season, Horror Movies, & More

In a new interview with The Futon Critic, Amy Bruni & Kris Williams talk about the new season of Ghost Hunters (which premieres tonight), working with the Real Houswives of Atlanta, the role of women in the paranormal field, what actually scares them, and more.

JH: Do you watch any of the paranormal-type horror movies that are out there or would you be too critical of the field to enjoy it?
AB: If it's an old school movie like 'The Shining' or 'The Exorcist' then I'm down but I haven't seen 'Paranormal Activity' or anything like that.

JH: What else are we going to see on this show in the upcoming new episodes?

AB: We went to Philadelphia Zoo, which was a new thing for all of us. The Real Housewives of Atlanta come out and hang out with us in Atlanta.

JH: I want to see that episode! Talk about two very different shows coming together!

AB: It was really interesting, actually. I was definitely like 'Huh?' when they said that but you'll be surprised at what you see.

KW: They were coming in with their high heels and big hair but it actually went really well. They did great.

First Review of 'Ghost Hunt' by Jason & Grant

Tribute Books has posted their review of Jason & Grant's newest book, Ghost Hunt, which is aimed towards young adult readers. The review describes the book as "more technical than emotional" and as a better fit on a "boy's bookshelf" [as opposed to a girl's], despite the fact that the story is told from a female point of view. Lyssa Frye is the main character, who has recently joined the TAPS team, and now must help investigate their newest case. The second chapter is a departure from the actual tactics of the TAPS team, for within the story, they call upon the help of a psychic. The last section of the book is an introduction to ghost hunting. The review also notes that Steve & Tango are replaced within the storyline with a set of twins. From the review:

For Ghost Hunters fans, the book feels like Jason and Grant just slapped their names onto the project. Only the introductory pages to the fictional stories and ghost hunting guide are attributed to the guys from T.A.P.S. When they appear as characters, their actions ring false. A weird romantic undertone is found in the lines: Grant leaned forward. His dark eyes stared into Lyssa's. Jason appears as if he is talking to a room full of kindergarten kids when he says, "Don't be afraid to admit you're scared, Lyssa. We all are sometimes." Meanwhile, Steve and Tango are replaced by an annoying set of twins. Chris Williams is M.I.A. instead the fictional team is led by female technical manager, Jen Shorewood. The producers of the book are more interested in creating formulated drama than depicting the reality behind the series.
Tribute Book Reviews is giving away the sample copy they recieved (which is partial, not complete). After hearing this review, would you still be interested in reading the book, especially after hearing about Jason & Grant's lack of invovlement?

'Chilling Tales' Reiussed to Celebate Season Premiere

This reissue coincides with the Ghost Hunters season premiere tomorrow night on SyFy. Chilling Tales "shares fun, interesting, creepy yet true tales of plumbing horrors and hilarity". Is Ghost Hunters Academy Over?

SyFy recently announced their fall schedule which included the usual Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, as well as the new comer Fact or Faked. The one show that the press release failed to mention was Ghost Hunters Academy, which has previously premiered in November. Does this mean that the show has hit the chopping block and it will be no more? A quick look at the Pilgrim Film & Television website reveals that Ghost Hunters Academy is ominously absent from their list of shows (while it has previously been on it). As of now, the future is looking dark for Academy and all of the hopefuls who planned on making it onto the show.

More Info on 'Chilling Tales'; September 7 Release

Barnes & Noble is now offering Jason and Grant's new tween book, Ghost Hunt: Chilling Tales of the Unknown for pre-order at the price of $11.46 (via their website). The book will be released on September 7, 2010 and is 304 pages long (plus it will have a glow in the dark cover!). Jason and Grant's newest book is a "middle grade collection of spooky paranormal investigations based on REAL ghost hunts". B&N.com has also updated their site with cover art from the book, which features an excerpt from the story on the back cover. In the excerpt, Jen & Lyssa (presumably two teen ghost hunters) are experiecing paranormal activity on a ship.

Jen held up her EMF meter. "It went all the way over ten," she said. "That's a huge jump. It could mean something is here."

Bam. Bam. BAM. BAM. BAM!

The boat slammed into the dock. Only the outside railing kept Lyssa and Jen from falling overboard.Jen shivered. "Maybe we should go back inside. Wait for the wind to die down a bit. What do you think?"

Lyssa opened her mouth to answer, but no sound came out.

As the winds howled around her, she stared straight ahead without blinking...without breathing.

She stared at the hazy figure on the dock...

...and the ghost was staring back at her.
