Recently eliminated Ghost Hunters Academy cadet Brett McGinnis said that he has no regrets regarding his appearance on the show. In the same interview with the Allied News, Brett also said that he wished he had progressed further, but it was still fun. He admitted that he had a head cold during the investigation and that Jason Hawes later told him that he was "a winner already", having been chosen from over a thousand applicants. Brett still maintains a postivie attitude about his experience, saying “I don’t think it will affect my integrity a a ghost hunter... nothing bad, just good can come of it.”.
“I wish I would have progressed a little bit further but as far as what I did, I don’t have any regrets. It was a lot of fun. I would do it again. It was definitely worth it,” said McGinnis of his time on the show.
McGinnis was eliminated mainly because of an error he made during an investigation. He forgot to attach an IR illuminator Ð a device that extends infrared vision Ð to his camera.
Others believe McGinnis was eliminated for a different reason.
“Some of the cadets made it seem like I lost some passion but that’s not true,” said McGinnis, admitting he had a head cold while filming.
“That was kind of wearing on me a little bit.”
Even after the elimination, McGinnis maintained a positive attitude.“Jason Hawes (founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society) told me even after the show that I had been selected over tens of thousands of applicants and that I was a winner already. And then progressing to the third investigation, I felt pretty good,” McGinnis said.

SyFy has announced that the second part of Ghost Hunters Season 6 will premiere on Wednesday, August 25 at 9PM. Recently, they have also announced that the show was renewed for a seventh season that will air in 2011. Don't forget about an all new Ghost Hunters Academy tonight on SyFy.

Good news today for all Ghost Hunters fans out there since SyFy has just renewedGhost Hunters for a seventh season with 25 all new episodes. Plus, the second half of Season 6 is set to premiere this fall. The show has now become SyFy's longest running original series and is the top rated show in its time slot on television. Congrats!
Back in 2006, paraphyschologist Larry Montz and his publicist filed a lawsuit against SyFy alleging that the idea for the show Ghost Hunters was theirs, due to the fact that between 1993 - 2003 they had (or claimed to) present exclusive materials to NBC featuring "a team of 'paranormal investigators.' As allegedly envisioned by Montz, each hour-long episode would follow the team's members to a different real-world location, where they would use magnetometers, infrared cameras, and other devices to investigate (and occasionally debunk) reports of paranormal activity." Shortly after this, Sci-Fi partnered with Pilgrim Films to produce Ghost Hunters. In 2007 the court ruled in favor of NBC Universal (who owns of SyFy) and recently Montz appealed the decision. The representatives were allegedly not interested in the concept for the show. According to the complaint, however, NBC Universal subsequently partnered with Craig Piligian and Pilgrim Films & Television, Inc., to produce a series on the Sci-Fi Channel based on the plaintiffs' materials. The show, called Ghost Hunters, stars Jason Hawes as the leader of a team of investigators who travel across the country to study paranormal activity.
DaemonsTV has posted an early review of tonight's season premiere episode of Ghost Hunters Academy. The reviewer liked the changes made to the show format, noting that a recruit is eliminated in each episode by Jason Hawes, and that "[Jason] comes off as a tough judge that is going to tell people straight, and so far it's made for some great television." They continue saying that they are looking forward to future episodes and that it is "much more" than a typical reality show.
