'Ghost Hunt' Website, Win a Trip to the Spalding Inn

An official website is now live for Jason and Grant's newest book, Ghost Hunt: Chilling Tales of the Unknown. The website features evidence collected by the TAPS team, information about the authors, PDF guides to ghost hunting, a skills quiz, and a contest which offers the oppurtunity for fans ages 6 through 14 to win a trip to the Spalding Inn, which is maintained by Jason and Grant. The winner will recieve a free weekend stay at the hotel for two and airfare to New Hampshire along with a tour and "a special private viewing of the Inn’s Ghost Hunters episode". Those within the age limits who are interested in entering the contest only need to print out the entry form and send it to the address provided. The sweepstakes begin September 1st and end on November 30th.

First Review of 'Ghost Hunt' by Jason & Grant

Tribute Books has posted their review of Jason & Grant's newest book, Ghost Hunt, which is aimed towards young adult readers. The review describes the book as "more technical than emotional" and as a better fit on a "boy's bookshelf" [as opposed to a girl's], despite the fact that the story is told from a female point of view. Lyssa Frye is the main character, who has recently joined the TAPS team, and now must help investigate their newest case. The second chapter is a departure from the actual tactics of the TAPS team, for within the story, they call upon the help of a psychic. The last section of the book is an introduction to ghost hunting. The review also notes that Steve & Tango are replaced within the storyline with a set of twins. From the review:

For Ghost Hunters fans, the book feels like Jason and Grant just slapped their names onto the project. Only the introductory pages to the fictional stories and ghost hunting guide are attributed to the guys from T.A.P.S. When they appear as characters, their actions ring false. A weird romantic undertone is found in the lines: Grant leaned forward. His dark eyes stared into Lyssa's. Jason appears as if he is talking to a room full of kindergarten kids when he says, "Don't be afraid to admit you're scared, Lyssa. We all are sometimes." Meanwhile, Steve and Tango are replaced by an annoying set of twins. Chris Williams is M.I.A. instead the fictional team is led by female technical manager, Jen Shorewood. The producers of the book are more interested in creating formulated drama than depicting the reality behind the series.

Tribute Book Reviews is giving away the sample copy they recieved (which is partial, not complete). After hearing this review, would you still be interested in reading the book, especially after hearing about Jason & Grant's lack of invovlement?

More Info on 'Chilling Tales'; September 7 Release

Barnes & Noble is now offering Jason and Grant's new tween book, Ghost Hunt: Chilling Tales of the Unknown for pre-order at the price of $11.46 (via their website). The book will be released on September 7, 2010 and is 304 pages long (plus it will have a glow in the dark cover!). Jason and Grant's newest book is a "middle grade collection of spooky paranormal investigations based on REAL ghost hunts". B&N.com has also updated their site with cover art from the book, which features an excerpt from the story on the back cover. In the excerpt, Jen & Lyssa (presumably two teen ghost hunters) are experiecing paranormal activity on a ship.

Jen held up her EMF meter. "It went all the way over ten," she said. "That's a huge jump. It could mean something is here."

Bam. Bam. BAM. BAM. BAM!

The boat slammed into the dock. Only the outside railing kept Lyssa and Jen from falling overboard.Jen shivered. "Maybe we should go back inside. Wait for the wind to die down a bit. What do you think?"

Lyssa opened her mouth to answer, but no sound came out.

Jason & Grant's Tween Book "Ghost Hunt" Due in September

Jason Hawes & Grant Wilson recently attended the Book Expo of America, a large publishing event in order to promote their new children's novel. Jason & Grant have both tweeted about and during the event on Twitter, saying that the book is due out in September of this year. Upon searching the Book Expo of America website, you can find this book ,whose authors are listed as Jason & Grant, Ghost Hunt: Chilling Tales of the Search for the Unseen. A short description follows: Paranormal stories from the actual ghost hunts on the TV show Ghost Hunters. Amazon is already offering the book for pre-order at the price of $11.55 and lists the reading level as ages 9 -12. From Amazon:

TAPS Testing Medical Technology

The Business Wire has posted an interesting news article today which discusses the use of KB Port's ETC Technology on the show Ghost Hunters. The technology was originally intended to be used by medical students to simulate training situations, but has proved to be an invaluable addition to TAPS's vast array of equipment. The TAPS team is even testing new additions to the eqipment so that KB Port can expand upon their technology and open into new markets. The ETC is also used in physchology and counseling and has even seen interest by the Department of Defense.

Kb Port’s involvement with these two groups is no accident. In fact, Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, and Britt Griffith of TAPS have performed extensive field testing with the ETC. In their time with the product, they’ve thoroughly familiarized themselves with the equipment to provide KB Port with valuable feedback concerning the strengths of the ETC.

While the technology was originally designed for medical training simulations, its feature set suits it perfectly for use in the realm of paranormal investigation. SyFy Orders New Reality Show Featuring Jason, Grant, & Toilets

In a surprising new move to expand the enormously popular Ghost Hunters franchise, today SyFy announced that Ghost Hunters stars Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will be starring in a new reality television series, tentatively named Paranormal Plumbers. The show is expected to start filming in late 2010 and the show will premiere on SyFy in summer of 2011. When asked about the purpose of the new show, SyFy reps said that they "wanted to give fans and viewers a look into the two extremely different jobs that Jason & Grant have (being RI plumbers by day and ghost hunters by night). People know them as ghost hunters, but what do they really know about them when the sun is shining and they're not in some creepy, dark location? We know that fans cannot get enough of them, so here is their chance to get to know the other side of our favorite paranormal investigators". SyFy has even hinted that Jason & Grant may encounter paranormal activity when plumbing and may have to use their skills as ghost hunters to help families and trapped souls. While this new move by SyFy may surprise some fans, it confirms several rumors that we heard before Ghost Hunters Live that suggested that there were plans to expand the Ghost Hunters franchise.
